Murmansk is welcoming guests: a business mission from our Chinese partner city, Lianyungang, has arrived to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the hero city

3 October 2026

Lianyungang is one of the largest container ports in China and the world, the starting point of the Northern East-West Maritime Transport Corridor, and a special economic and technological development zone. A memorandum of understanding establishing sister city relations with Murmansk was signed in November 2024.

On October 3, a meeting of business circles from the two cities was held at the Regional Control Center. Murmansk and Lianyungang were officially represented by Deputy Head of Murmansk Andrey Kostin and Deputy Mayor of Lianyungang Wu Ganyu.

The dialogue was attended by Olga Yumatova, Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region; Elena Nesterovich, CEO of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation; and representatives of Russian and Chinese businesses. The parties shared insights into the economic potential of Murmansk and Lianyungang and outlined prospects for further cooperation during B2B negotiations.

Murmansk's anniversary is not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to strengthen economic ties with our partners.
