Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus

April 2 marks the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. This date commemorates the signing of the Treaty on the Formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus in 1996, which marked the beginning of the integration of the two countries.

The signing of a sister city agreement between Murmansk and Minsk on August 21, 2014, marked a significant milestone in the development of international relations. Almost 12 years have passed since then. Throughout these years, the cities have maintained close economic and cultural cooperation.

Delegations from the two hero cities regularly visit. Young people from Murmansk and Minsk participate in joint cultural and sporting events. A memorandum of cooperation has also been signed between JSC Electrotransport and the BKM Holding plant (commonly known as Belkommunmash).

A number of joint events aimed at further strengthening ties between the cities are planned for 2026. This will expand the horizons of cooperation in the economic, cultural, and social spheres.
