2 February 2026

A working meeting was held in Murmansk between Murmansk Region Governor Andrei Chibis and Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in St. Petersburg Nikolai Rogozhnik.

The parties discussed the current state and new areas of partnership in the trade, economic, and logistics sectors.

Particular attention is being paid to developing a joint project to create a multifunctional cargo handling terminal, which will open up new opportunities for transportation along the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor and the Northern Sea Route.

"The Republic of Belarus is a reliable partner and a true friend for the Kola Arctic. We actively cooperate in the economic and social spheres. Furthermore, Belarusian machinery and equipment—BELAZ, MAZ, and Amkodor—are in high demand in the mining, public utilities, and transportation sectors of the Murmansk Region," noted the head of the region.

Consul General Nikolai Rogozhnik emphasized the high level of trade relations, noting the existence of significant reserves for their expansion.

"In 2025, the level of our trade relations is quite high, but there is also room for growth, including new trade projects, fundamental cooperation, and restoration. Therefore, I would like to discuss the possibility of your visit to the Republic of Belarus next year. I am confident we will be able to identify new prospects," said Nikolai Rogozhnik.

Andrei Chibis thanked the Belarusian side for their close cooperation, including in the area of skilled personnel training. The Governor emphasized that in the current international environment, strengthening partnerships with trusted allies is particularly important.
