On November 25-26 of this year, a delegation from the city of Murmansk headed by the Head of the city, Yu.V. Serdechkin, visited the city of Lianyungang in the People"s Republic of China.
Lianyungang is a strategically important city in China, a major transportation hub that provides logistics services for countries and regions along the Silk Road, and has maritime connections with more than 160 countries around the world.
As part of the visit program, the Murmansk delegation visited the port of Lianyungang, one of the largest in China (the port"s throughput capacity exceeds 200 million tons per year), as well as enterprises producing tank containers, mining and wind turbine equipment. (Lianyungang is the largest base for the production of wind turbine equipment).
The delegation took part in the trade and economic conference "Murmansk – Lianyungang", within the framework of which the parties identified possible areas of cooperation in the sphere of economics, trade and tourism.
During the visit, an official meeting was held between the Head of the City of Murmansk, Yu.V. Serdechkin, and the Mayor of the People"s Government of the City of Lianyungang, Mr. Xing Zhengjun, and the signing of a protocol of intent to establish sister city relations.
