From 14 to 15 November, the XIII International Mining Conference “Barents-Arctic Economic Partnership” was held in the city of Kirovsk.
On the first day, participants discussed environmental aspects of mining and sustainable development in a changing climate. The conference program included plenary sessions, panel discussions, round tables, company presentations and business meetings. The exhibition area featured companies demonstrating innovative technologies and equipment.
At the plenary session, Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region Dmitry Titarenko presented a report on the prospects for the development of the industrial potential of the Murmansk Region. During his speech, he congratulated the staff of the Kirov branch of JSC Apatit on the 95th anniversary of the company"s founding.
"I would like to express special words of gratitude to the organizers of the International Mining Conference "Barents-Arctic Economic Partnership". Of course, the conference makes a significant contribution to ensuring the sustainable development of the mining complex of the entire territory of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and the country as a whole," the Deputy Minister noted.
The second day of the conference began with a visit to industrial sites, where participants familiarized themselves with the production capacities of enterprises. Also, within the framework of round tables and thematic sections, participants exchanged opinions on current issues in the field of the labor market of the Arctic mining complex, the development of rare element production, and cooperation between industry and scientific institutions of the region.

The International Mining Conference "Barents-Arctic Economic Partnership", which started in 2010 in Kirovsk, has been a key platform for many years to discuss current issues of developing mineral resources in the Arctic, developing solutions for existing and new mining operations, and optimizing production processes using innovative technologies.
Traditionally, the conference is organized by the Union "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Murmansk Region" /Severnaya/ under the patronage of the Supreme Mining Council of the NP "Mining Industrialists of Russia" with the support of the Government of the Murmansk Region and the Kola Science Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
