A delegation from the city of Murmansk visited the capital of the Republic of Belarus, the hero city of Minsk, from September 13 to 14, 2024, in honor of its 957th anniversary. The program of the two-day visit was devoted to the development of partnership relations between sister cities, and also included festive events dedicated to the Day of the City of Minsk.
– The visit of our delegation began with a visit to a specialized exhibition of innovative developments. The achievements of the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus, developments of heavy and light industry enterprises, electronics are presented here, – shared the head of the Murmansk city administration Yuri Serdechkin.
Delegates from 29 countries and 22 regions of Russia, including the Murmansk region, took part in the opening of the International Forum of Economic Cooperation.
The main festive events took place on Saturday. They began with a ceremonial flower-laying ceremony at the Minsk – Hero City obelisk. Murmansk residents also took part in the ceremonial opening of a memorial sign dedicated to Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Semenovich Okrestin and the pilots who died during the Great Patriotic War.
– The twinning relations between the hero cities of Murmansk and Minsk have recently turned 10 years old. This is not just mutual understanding in trade, economic and socio-cultural issues, this is a real friendship between the cities and their residents! – the head of the administration emphasized – I sincerely thank the people of Minsk and personally the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev for the warm welcome! I am confident that the visit of the Murmansk delegation will contribute to the further strengthening of both business ties and friendly relations between our cities.
