Delegation of Murmansk city takes part in festive events in sister city Minsk

As part of the program of festive events in the sister city of Minsk, the delegation of the city of Murmansk, headed by the deputy head of the city administration Lyudmila Mikhailovna Levchenko, visited a grand parade with the participation of military and security units, samples of equipment on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. The President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko made a ceremonial speech at the parade.

The delegation of the hero city of Murmansk, as well as the delegation of the hero city of Smolensk, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square in Minsk as part of the program of events.

The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus hosted a concert entitled “Memory for Centuries to the Heroes-Liberators,” which became the culmination of the festive events for the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

"It is a great honor for us to take part in these events and share the joy of Victory with our sister city Minsk," commented Lyudmila Mikhailovna Levchenko. "I am confident that today"s meeting will make a positive contribution to expanding the partnership between Murmansk and Minsk. Cooperation between Minsk and Murmansk has enormous potential both in the humanitarian areas we are accustomed to – culture, education, sports and tourism, and in the spheres of economics and trade. We hope that the friendship between our cities will continue to grow stronger and bear fruit for the benefit of the development of our cities."
