The event took place at the Regional Control Center in Murmansk as part of a two-day working visit by the company"s delegation to the region.
The meeting focused on further steps to implement the memorandum of understanding signed between the Murmansk Region Government and NNSL in September 2025. The parties focused on the prospects for establishing regular container shipping through the port of Murmansk during the 2026 summer navigation season, as well as joint projects to develop port infrastructure to increase cargo flow.
Andrey Chibis emphasized the strategic importance of the Arctic direction: "The development of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic is a long-term and strategic priority for our country. We discussed this topic in detail again at our recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In light of this, we are extremely interested in working together and partnering. Given our tour of the territories, I propose that we examine this issue in detail to develop concrete steps."
For their part, representatives of the Chinese company noted that during the visit, they were familiarized with the infrastructure of Murmansk"s fishing and commercial ports and assessed them as meeting their requirements and future plans. NewNew Shipping Line Chairman Yuxin Fan stated that the company sees significant potential for cooperation.
She also reported that NNSL is exploring opportunities for broader logistics from Asian countries, including not only the Murmansk route but also promising routes to Europe and the Middle East. However, the decision to open these routes will depend directly on the availability of sufficient and stable cargo traffic.
“Our company is ready to consider this possibility, provided that the capacity is ensured,” Yuxin Fan emphasized.
To determine next steps, she said, a working meeting has already been held with her Chinese colleagues, and it was decided that a detailed study of local enterprises and an analysis of potential cargo volumes is essential first. Based on the results of this analysis, a decision on further action will be made.
