At the expert council of the all-Russian accelerator "Discover Your Russia," a team from the Murmansk Region presented a new tourism product aimed at Chinese and Indian travelers – a five-day tour that allows for complete immersion in the Arctic.
"We see enormous potential in developing inbound tourism and are working specifically with Asian markets, among others. This year, according to big data analytics, approximately 40,000 tourists have already visited our region from China alone. Growing interest in Arctic exotica is driven by the unique experiences offered by visiting the Murmansk Region, which are driving our strategic goal of increasing the share of foreign tourists in overall tourism to 20%," explained Alexandra Kondaurova, Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region.
During the tour presentation, it was noted that over the course of five days, travelers will witness the might of the nuclear-powered icebreaker Lenin, feel the breath of the ancient mountains in the Khibiny Mountains, experience the culture of the Pomors, and hear the heartbeat of the Arctic Ocean in Teriberka. The program includes unique activities for any season: from ice floating (floating among ice floes in a wetsuit) and "silent hunting" for mushrooms and berries to hunting for the northern lights and culinary master classes on Arctic cuisine. Particular attention will be paid to meeting husky sled dogs and reindeer.
"We"ve created an offer that, in terms of price and scope, can compete with tours in Scandinavia," added Alexandra Kondaurova. "I"d like to thank the regional team and the accelerator mentors, especially the regional mentors at Cosmos Hotel Group, for their coordinated work, which allowed us to bring a truly well-developed product to the federal level."
The "Discover Your Russia" accelerator is a federal program implemented by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives jointly with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development to develop high-quality inbound tourism offerings in the regions. Earlier, an accelerator fly-in event was held in Murmansk , featuring experts and tourism industry representatives, to mark World Tourism Day. The results of this work formed the basis for the tourism product presented.
Following the expert council meeting, finalists will be selected from 25 participating regions. Their tourism products will be presented on December 12 at the Rossiya National Center in Moscow and will subsequently be eligible for federal support for promotion on the international market.
