A delegation of journalists representing foreign media outlets based in Moscow arrived in the Murmansk Region today. The three-day trip is part of a series of press tours organized by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
The journalists" introduction to the Murmansk Region began with a tour of the Regional Control Center. Here, Deputy Governor and Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region Svetlana Panfilova welcomed the guests to the Kola Peninsula on behalf of the regional government.
"Our goal is to introduce you to the friendly Arctic and immerse you in the economic, investment, cultural, and tourism potential of our region. We want you to see the prospects for our development in such challenging geopolitical times," noted Svetlana Panfilova.
The Vice Governor told press tour participants about strategic projects being implemented in the region.
"The Arctic today is a place where the geostrategic interests of various countries intersect, and, of course, the development of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, as well as the resource base of the Russian Arctic as a whole and the Murmansk Region as its outpost, are under close scrutiny," noted Svetlana Panfilova.
Tomorrow, foreign media journalists will meet with Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis. The press tour will also include visits to cultural and memorial sites, as well as sites that showcase the region"s economic and investment potential. The journalists will present materials from the trip to their national media outlets and will serve to strengthen trust and mutual understanding between the countries, as well as promote opportunities for cooperation.
