An educational program for representatives of the tourism and food industry will be held in Murmansk on September 29 and 30. The series of events will focus on the development of inbound and food tourism in the Murmansk Region and will feature federal experts. Key objectives of the program include professional development, developing strategic solutions for the industry, and developing new product offerings for tourists.
The event is organized by the Murmansk Region Tourism Committee and the Murmansk Region Tourist Information Center, in partnership with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), the Cosmos Hotel Group chain, and Tuloma. The event is included in the governor"s "Live in the North!" plan and aligns with the goals of the "Tourism and Hospitality" national project.
The educational track will be implemented as part of two programs of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives: the "ProEdu po Rossii" (ProI"ll Travel Around Russia) accelerator and the "Otkrytye Rossii" (Discover Your Russia) program, implemented by the ASI jointly with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the Center for Strategic Research. This year, the Murmansk Region was selected by the ASI expert community as a pilot region for participation in these programs.
The event will bring together program participants, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, federal experts, and other active market participants in tourism and related industries.
The educational program will include lectures on inbound and gastronomic tourism, a lecture for hoteliers, and a strategic session as the central event. During the strategic session, experts, entrepreneurs, and government officials will formulate concrete ideas and proposals for the further development of the industry in the region, which will subsequently be presented to Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis. The comprehensive business program will conclude with a meeting with businesses, where initiatives and proposals from the professional community will be discussed.

World Tourism Day was established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1979. The purpose of the holiday is to promote tourism, highlight its contribution to the global economy, and develop ties between peoples of different countries. The date of the celebration—September 27—was chosen because the Statutes of the World Tourism Organization were adopted on this day in 1970.
