On May 28, the Murmansk Region will celebrate the 87th anniversary of its formation. As Deputy Governor and Chief of Staff of the Government of the Murmansk Region Nadezhda Aksenova reported at an operational meeting, the celebrations will cover all municipalities, with more than 150 cultural events planned.
The main event will be a ceremonial meeting at the Murmansk Drama Theater. On this day, awards will be presented to residents of the region who have made a significant contribution to its development, and a theatrical performance will be presented about the role of the region in bringing Victory in the Great Patriotic War closer.
Also on May 28 at 10:00 in Murmansk, the patriotic motor rally "Roads of Victory. Hero Cities" will start. It will begin with the laying of flowers at the Memorial to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic, after which the participants will light a lamp and carry it through all the hero cities. The route will end on June 12 in Sevastopol. In all municipalities, thematic quizzes, local history hours and meetings will be held in the SOPKI spaces, and in the Laplandia center – the regional volunteer forum "My Small Homeland".
The sports program includes the Fourth All-Russian bicycle race in the Valley of Comfort with a separate run on balance bikes for the youngest northerners. On May 30 and 31, the Kirov Community Center will host a festival-competition of patriotic song performers named after Iosif Kobzon. Almost 100 vocalists and groups will present their numbers in various nominations.
"The culmination of the festive program will be a concert on May 31 near the Meridian Hotel. The award ceremony for the winners of the Kobzon competition will take place on the main stage. The audience will also enjoy a performance by the famous artist and singer Vitaly Gogunsky and a disco program from Murmansk DJs. From May 30 to June 1, an Arctic cuisine fair will be held on Vorovskogo Street, where the best restaurateurs of the region will present their dishes. An open-air cinema, "Arkticheskoe Kinoleto," will open nearby, said Nadezhda Aksenova.
