Today, during an operational meeting, Governor Andrei Chibis presented the cultural and sports program of the International Arctic Forum, which will be held in Murmansk for the first time this week.
"The International Arctic Forum is not only a business program and strategic decisions, but also a real holiday for residents and guests of the city, which will turn Murmansk into a center of culture, sports and traditions of the North. Guests will enjoy a rich program, full of gastronomic discoveries and unforgettable emotions," said Andrey Chibis.
The Governor noted that residents and guests of the region should begin their journey through the cultural venue of the forum with the gastronomic festival "Taste of the Arctic", which will be open from March 25 to 30 on Vorovskogo Street, where you can try unique dishes of northern cuisine. You can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of traditions in the central square of Murmansk in the "Sami Village", where competitions in national sports will be held: lasso throwing, jumping over sleds, crossbow shooting and Sami women"s football. "Sami Village" will be open from March 26 to 30 from 11:00 to 21:00.
A sight that you definitely can"t miss is the ice show featuring 10 figures – symbols of the Arctic regions. It will take place on March 26 from 17:30 to 19:00 on Leningradskaya Street.
On March 26 at 20:00 at the Central Trade Union Stadium there will be a bright concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Northern Festival.
"This grand event will bring together athletes, artists and guests from all over the country. The forum as a whole will be a real celebration of culture and sports. Fans of active recreation will enjoy snow fights and other activities dedicated to the traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North. From March 25 to 30, as part of the International Traditional Festival of the North, competitions in winter sailing, alpine skiing and football on the snow will be held – this is a unique spectacle that is worth seeing with your own eyes. And on March 29 and 30, the main sporting event will take place – the 51st Murmansk Ski Marathon, one of the five best marathons in Russia. Olympic champions, world champions and leading skiers of the country will take part in it," said Andrey Chibis.
The head of the region emphasized that the forum is not only a business platform, but also a large-scale festival filled with life, traditions and inspiration.
"This is an opportunity to see, feel and experience the Arctic in all its glory. Vivid events will decorate the life of the Murmansk Region long after the forum. Therefore, dear guests, stay in Murmansk longer, explore the region, enjoy its nature and hospitality," the governor said.
