The venue was the Harbin International Sports and Exhibition Center in the People"s Republic of China. The Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair has been held since 1990 and is an important platform for economic and trade cooperation in Northeast Asia.
Yury Serdechkin, head of Murmansk city administration, took part in a working meeting with Harbin Mayor Zhang Qixian and Flyur Asadullin, representative of the Republic of Bashkortostan at the Russian Trade Mission in China. The head of the administration of the city of Murmansk highlighted the key strategic advantages of the capital of the Kola Arctic: access to the Northern Sea Route, the development of the Murmansk transport hub, the availability of preferential treatment for investors-residents of the territory of advanced development "Capital of the Arctic" and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The meeting participants expressed their interest in developing cooperation in the field of tourism and trade.
In addition, a conference on exchange and cooperation between Harbin and Russian sister cities was held, as well as a collective meeting with the secretary of the Committee of the Communist Party of China Zhang Anshun and delegations from Russian regions.
On September 9, 2016, in the year of the 100th anniversary of Murmansk, an agreement was signed with the city of Harbin on establishing sister city relations. Priority areas in cooperation between the two cities are culture and economic development.
