On December 21, 2022, a working meeting was held between the Deputy Head of the Murmansk city Administration Lyudmila Levchenko, and the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in St. Petersburg, Mr. Ozgun Talu. The main topics of discussion were the strengthening of twinning ties and the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, entrepreneurship and tourism.
Close relations between Murmansk and Alanya arose in 2014, when an agreement was signed on sister city relations between the cities. Since then, the priority areas in cooperation have been the development of tourism, the expansion of cultural and economic contacts. Particular attention is paid to the improvement of the health of Murmansk residents, in particular children and adolescents. In Alanya, training camps for polar athletes are held, and Murmansk residents also take part in the annual festivals and holidays of the Turkish city.
In May 2017, another agreement was signed – on interaction and cooperation in the field of tourism, and at the end of November this year, within the framework of the IV International Municipal Forum of the BRICS+ countries, the Murmansk delegation met with the mayor of the city of Alanya.
During today"s conversation, Mr. Ozgun Talu emphasized the importance of international contacts, highly appreciated the active cooperation between Murmansk and Alanya within the framework of sister city relations and expressed hope for the further development of friendly relations.
