In June of this year, the delegation of the city of Murmansk visited the city of Minsk (Republic of Belarus) on an official visit at the invitation of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
On June 7, representatives of the Murmansk city administration visited the Belagro-2022 international specialized exhibition, which is the largest demonstration platform for the achievements of the agro-industrial complex. Representatives of 8 companies from the Murmansk region represented our region at Belagro-2022. The stand of the Murmansk region presents frozen fish products, products from berries, algae, mussels and sea urchins, as well as packaging for food products.
Within the framework of Belagro-2022, representatives of the Murmansk city administration visited an exhibition of equipment of the AMKODOR holding enterprise used in various sectors of the economy.
On this day, working meetings were also held at the enterprises of the Belkommunmash holding and MAZ OJSC on the issue of updating the fleet of buses and trolleybuses of Electrotransport JSC.
Also, within the framework of the visit, the deputy head of the administration of the city of Murmansk, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Levchenko, visited the Belarusian State Academic Theater of the Young Spectator. The result of the meeting was an agreement to hold a tour of the Children"s Theater School in the city of Minsk, as well as a return tour of the creative team of the Theater of the Young Spectator in the city of Murmansk, which are scheduled for March 2023.
On June 8, a solemn ceremony of laying a wreath and flowers at the Victory Monument in Minsk took place. Accompanied by a guard of honor company and an orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the delegation from the Murmansk region honored the memory of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for a peaceful sky above. The delegation was accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Artem Tsuran.
Also, on June 8, a meeting of the delegation from the Murmansk region with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Zaits took place. At the meeting, long-term reliable ties and opening opportunities for increasing trade turnover against the backdrop of a changing geopolitical situation were noted.
On the same day, the fifth meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk Region was held.
During the meeting of the Working Group, the participants discussed in detail the implementation of the action plan of the Murmansk region and the Republic of Belarus for the development of trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation for 2021–2023, as well as summed up the results of bilateral contacts and identified specific tasks for the development of cooperation.
Olga Kuznetsova noted that among the promising areas of cooperation are mechanical engineering (production for the northern characteristics and supply of equipment, localization of service centers), training for the operation and maintenance of equipment, the fishing industry, aquaculture (development and supply of feed) and agriculture (upgrading equipment, equipment), food supplies and light industry.
Tatyana Russkova, Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region, also noted that the development of scientific and educational ties, including with the Murmansk Arctic University, is of no small importance.
Yuri Serdechkin in his report recalled that on August 21, 2014the signing of an agreement on the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Murmansk and Minsk took place. Since 2014, representatives of both Murmansk and Minsk have been visiting each other almost every year: on friendly visits, organizing business missions, participating in joint events in the field of culture, youth policy, physical culture and sports. In addition, the head of the administration of the city of Murmansk noted that our cities are not only sister cities, but also hero cities. Every year in the city of Murmansk, on the eve of the celebration of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, a city-wide action "Memory Watch" is held. As part of the event, veterans, home front workers, honorary citizens of the hero city of Murmansk, military personnel and schoolchildren visit memorial sites in all districts of the polar capital and lay flowers at them.
Also at the meeting, the potential of the tourism sector was noted: for the residents of our region, one of the promising areas of tourism to Belarus is the sanatorium complexes of the Republic.
Following the meeting, the parties will consider and sign the "Action Plan for the Development of Cooperation between Murmansk and Minsk for 2022-2023", developed by the administration of the city of Murmansk.
It should also be noted the agreement of the parties on the establishment of the Belarusian House of Trade in the city of Murmansk, where goods of Belarusian production will be presented: food, knitwear, clothes, shoes and other goods.
