On November 30, 2021, the IV meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk Region (online format on the peregovorka.by platform) was held, in which representatives of the Murmansk city administration took part.
The working group from both sides includes representatives of state and municipal authorities, business associations. The working group is the coordinating body that determines the effective development of partnerships.
During the meeting, the following issues were discussed: the state of trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk region, the implementation of the Action Plan of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation on the development of trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation for 2021 – 2023, cooperation in the agro-industrial sector and fish farming, food supply, in the supply of passenger equipment.
They also discussed the prospects of opening flights on the route "Minsk-Murmansk" and cooperation through the chambers of commerce and industry of the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk region.
Recall that the cities of Murmansk and Minsk have been linked by twinning relations since August 21, 2014, when an agreement was signed between the cities on the establishment of twinning relations. The main areas of cooperation are the spheres of housing and communal services, transport, education, culture, physical culture, sports and youth policy.
Of all the spheres of interaction, it should be noted the activities carried out in the framework of the development of transport infrastructure – this is the cooperation of JSC "Electrotransport" with JSC "MAZ". Since the establishment of twinning relations, 70 units of rolling stock manufactured in the Republic of Belarus have been put into operation. The purchase of vehicles is carried out by concluding leasing agreements.
During the period 2018-2020, 11 buses were purchased (with a total funding of 101.5 million rubles). In 2021, the vehicle fleet of Electrotransport JSC was replenished with another 14 new buses produced by the Minsk Automobile Plant. Low-floor cars are adapted for passengers with limited mobility, equipped with a body tilt device, a place for the safe placement of a wheelchair. A contract was also signed for the supply of five trolleybuses. By the end of 2025, it is planned to purchase another 30 units of rolling stock.
