On June 21, 2021, a working meeting of representatives of the administration of Murmansk, the mayor"s office of the twin city of Groningen, as well as members of the public organization "Twin Cities Gronigen-Murmansk" and the Society of Twin Cities Gronigen-Murmansk, dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of twinning relations between Murmansk was held and Groningen.
Due to restrictions due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the meeting was held online.
The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the international project "Reading
without Borders", aimed at increasing the interest of young people in reading in general and in acquaintance with the literature of foreign countries, in particular.
In addition, the Dutch side expressed interest in expanding cooperation between educational institutions in Murmansk and Groningen. Taking into account the limitations caused by the pandemic, it was decided to subject this issue to a thorough analysis and to identify coordinators from the Russian and Dutch sides for operational interaction.
The meeting was held in a friendly manner. The parties thanked each other for the productive conversation and expressed confidence that the long-term friendship between Murmansk and Groningen will only grow stronger in the future.
