On April 19, 2021, a working meeting was held with the Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg, Mrs. Park Joo Yong.
Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region – Head of the Department of International and Foreign Economic Relations, Border and Interregional Cooperation Ilya Nikolaevich Ostapchuk, Minister of Culture of the Murmansk Region Olga Gennadievna Obukhova, as well as representatives of the Murmansk city administration took part in this event.
The main topic of the meeting was the preparation for the organization of the visit of the official delegation of the Republic of Korea to the Murmansk region, which is scheduled for the end of May 2021. The delegation headed by the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg, Mr. Kwon Dong Sok, plans to visit the capital of the Arctic Circle by representatives of the business circles of the Republic of Korea. As part of this event, it is planned to organize free screenings of Korean films.
Cultural cooperation between the Murmansk region and the Republic of Korea began in 2016. At that time, a delegation headed by the Ambassador of Korea for Arctic Affairs, Mr. Kim Chan U, paid an official visit to the Arctic. The visit was accompanied by a cultural program that introduced the northerners to traditional Korean art and cinema.
