On September 11, 2020, the head of Murmansk city Administration Evgeny Nikora with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iceland in Moscow Aurni Thor Sigurdsson in the Model Library – Information Intelligence Center (Branch number 24) MBUK "Central Murmansk City Library".
This is the first personal meeting of the head of the regional center administration at the international level after the partial lifting of restrictions related to the pandemic.
During the meeting, the director of the MBUK "Central Murmansk City Library" S. Isaeva spoke about the work of the model library, which was opened a year ago as part of the federal national project "Culture". The representatives of the Embassy were shown the exhibition areas of the library, multimedia equipment, and detailed information about working with people with disabilities.
E.V. Nikora emphasized the importance of maintaining twinning relations between the cities of Murmansk and Akureyri, and also noted that an Action Plan for the development of cooperation between the city of Murmansk and twin cities for the period up to 2030 has been developed and sent, which includes activities in the field of education, culture, youth policy, physical culture and sports.
Mr. Aurni Tor Sigurdsson noted that over the past years Iceland has been interested in translating and publishing Icelandic children"s literature in Russia, and also thanked the Russian side for its assistance in preparing the meeting.
