The task of Murmansk is to take first place in the rating of cities in the Arctic zone of Russian Federation for implementation of the Smart City project, – said Evgeny Nikora at a briefing following his participation in the international congress “Smart Cities and Municipalities”. The event took place on January 15-16 in Ankara (Turkey).
At the largest meeting of heads of municipalities from around the world, which was attended by about seven thousand people, various solutions to socio-economic issues were presented, a strategy for the actions of municipalities for the coming years was developed, opportunities for international cooperation were considered.
The head of Murmansk city Administration made a presentation on the implementation and development of the Smart City project in the capital of the Arctic.
– Murmansk became the only Russian city to take part in the congress. We have certain developments in the implementation of digital platforms, – said the head of the Murmansk administration. – We are talking about the Safe City system, which has been successfully functioning for a long time, about road facilities, transport services.
Separately, as one of the components of the "Smart City", Evgeny Nikora noted the openness of the authorities and active interaction with the townspeople. A striking example is the issues of improvement, which are resolved taking into account the opinions of Murmansk residents.
Evgeny Nikora dwelled in detail on the project of modernization of street lighting, which is being prepared for implementation in Murmansk under the concession agreement. It will not be limited to the installation of new supports with modern lighting fixtures, it will allow to form the architectonics of the "Smart City", to create a new automated infrastructure.
– We have all the resources to actively work in this direction: a serious team at the regional and municipal level, as well as the necessary technological solutions. I am sure that this will make it possible to make a breakthrough in the development of Murmansk as a "Smart City" and improve the quality of life of each of its residents, summed up Evgeny Nikora.
