On April 18 an official visit of the delegation of Minsk to Murmansk took place.
The Belarusian delegation, headed by the Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee Andrey Shorts, included representatives of the department of the Embassy of Republic of Belarus in Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, the Department of Russian Regions of the Main Directorate of Russia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Belarus, Director General of the Minsk Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as representatives of the business community.
This is already the second visit of a large delegation of the sister city led by representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee to Murmansk. The previous such visit took place in August 2014. The Minsk delegation included representatives of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as a number of enterprises, including the Minsk Automobile Plant OJSC. It was during this visit on August 21, 2014 in Murmansk that an agreement was signed on the establishment of twinning relations between our cities.
The program of the visit included meetings with representatives of the Murmansk city administration, holding a meeting of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Murmansk region, as well as a number of business meetings.
As a result of the events held, the parties noted the high potential for cooperation in various fields.
Also, special attention will be paid to the further development of twinning relations between Murmansk and Minsk, established in August 2014. Within the framework of the agreement concluded between the cities, joint activities in the spheres of culture and sports have been repeatedly implemented, in addition, one cannot fail to note the successful implementation of the project for the supply of buses manufactured by MAZ to ensure passenger traffic.
During the visit, members of the Belarusian delegation visited a number of monuments in Murmansk.
The relations between our cities are of a special nature due to the common history, in particular, thanks to the feat of the inhabitants of both cities during the Great Patriotic War. The parties paid tribute and laid flowers to the Eternal Flame at the memorial to the Defenders of the Soviet Arctic and to the alley of the Hero Cities.
In addition, members of the delegation and representatives of the host country visited the monument to the sister cities of Murmansk.
This visit will undoubtedly allow renewing contacts between cities and will serve as an incentive for further expansion of cooperation and implementation of joint projects.
