On April 12, 2016, a meeting of the head of Murmansk municipal formation A.B. Veller with the Consul General of the People"s Republic of China in St. Petersburg Mrs. Guo Min. The meeting was attended by the consul for work with the press, Mr. Xing Goven, the deputy head of the administration of the city of Murmansk L.M. Levchenko and the chairman of the committee for economic development of Murmansk city Administration Irina Kanash.
Mrs. Guo Min visited Murmansk for the first time, the visit of representatives of the Consul General was of an introductory nature. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between Murmansk and Harbin, with which a Protocol of Intentions was signed in October 2015 on the establishment of sister-city relations, in such areas as healthcare, education and tourism.
The Consul General noted that the expansion of Russian-Chinese interaction at the city level is of particular importance for strengthening friendly ties between Russia and the PRC, and expressed hope that twinning relations between Harbin and Murmansk will be established in the near future.
