Visit of the delegation of the city of Murmansk with the participation of the head of Murmansk city municipality A.B. Weller to Harbin took place from 11 to 16 October. This is the second meeting between representatives of the Russian Arctic and the industrial center of the PRC. The previous one took place in March 2014.
The main achievement within the rich business program of the visit was the meeting between the head of the Murmansk city unit and the mayor of Harbin, Sun Sibin. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation and signed a Protocol of Intentions on the establishment of sister-city relations between cities, which opens the way to the establishment of twin-city relations, which give significant advantages in the implementation of joint projects.
The business part of the trip was participation in the Second Russian-Chinese EXPO – a large international exhibition of competitive products of Russian and Chinese companies. In the course of communication with representatives of Harbin, issues of health care, transport, in particular freight transport, partnerships and investments were touched upon. As a result of negotiations and working meetings, opportunities for the implementation of joint projects and the interest of the Chinese side in interaction between our cities.
The representatives of the capital of the Kola Territory were especially interested in the possibility of implementing Russian-Chinese projects in the field of medicine, in particular, the use of methods of Chinese traditional medicine and the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy, people who have suffered a stroke, as well as the treatment of burns and frostbite.
In addition, Harbin"s experience in organizing a snow and ice festival was also interesting for the Murmansk delegation, which can become the basis for organizing such a holiday in our city.
