From March 25 to March 27, 2014, within the framework of participation in the business mission of the Murmansk region, a Murmansk city Administration delegation paid a visit to Oslo, Kingdom of Norway at the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation.
During the visit, the investment potential of the Murmansk region and Murmansk municipal formation were presented, in particular, the prospects for cross-border cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Norway, issues of fishing were discussed. Particular attention was paid to finding ways to attract investment and economic development of the region.
A number of round tables were organized at the Embassy of the Russian Federation. One of them – "Cooperation in the development of hydrocarbon raw materials on the Arctic shelf: forecasts, challenges, research" has become a platform for the active work of representatives of both countries. Representatives of the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the Kingdom of Norway, the Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, and large companies took part in its work from the Norwegian side.
In addition to the presentation of the tourist potential of the Murmansk region, a round table was organized on the development of international cooperation in the field of tourism. Members of the Murmansk delegation got acquainted with the experience of Norwegian companies in attracting tourists and organizing effective tourism activities, touched upon the issues of cruise tourism, including in the Arctic zone.
After the visit to the Oslo Technopark, a roundtable session was held on the development of entrepreneurship, where the issues of commercialization of the results of intellectual activity and support for entrepreneurs were considered. The round table was attended not only by entrepreneurs of the city of Murmansk and the Murmansk region, but also representatives of the city administration in the person of Irina Stepanovna Kanash, chairman of the committee for economic development of the city administration of Murmansk.
The Trade Mission of Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Norway noted that the visit of the Murmansk region delegation to Oslo was the largest event in the framework of Russian-Norwegian regional cooperation over the past five years, and the results of this business mission will in the future be reflected in specific joint projects.
